The obvious answer to what makes live sports betting different is that fact that you are betting on the game as it is being played. With regular wagering, all bets are placed before the game starts and once it starts you wait for the game to be over. With live betting, you’re basically making a wager and waiting until the play, at bat or possession is over. Here are some features of live wagering that distinguish it from regular sports betting.

More Opportunities to Bet

There are a lot more chances to win and lose cash because you are betting on each and every play. With that in mind, bettors must be careful to not make too many bets and overextend their bankroll.  As an example, if you wager on a half inning of baseball, you could easily make and lose anywhere from as few as three up to a dozen prop bets. That’s in just a half inning.

All Prop Bets

Basically all of the bets are proposition wagers, which means that although there are stats associated with them, they are very difficult to hit since there’s a decent amount of chance involved. If you have a batter who is hitting .345, which makes him one of the best in the game, and he comes up four times, his average dictates that he will get one or maybe two hits that game. Of course he could get three, four or no hits. That unto itself is difficult to predict.

But you also have to predict what type of hit he will get or how the other team will get him out. So this bet involves not two choices, will he get a hit or be out, but anywhere from nine to 12 choices, depending on the situation. That fact makes a live wager such as this one impossible to win in a consistent manner.

Bets Carry High Odds

Most of the bets will be listed with a plus in front of the number, which means you’re being told the odds are against you. Paybacks range from about $200 up to $800 on a $100 wager, depending on how likely it is a particular outcome will happen. These payouts are dictated by a few factors. Again, using baseball as an example, odds are dependent upon how good the hitter is, how good the pitcher is, what the situation is and what the count is.

Live Betting is Exciting

One thing can be said for live wagering it is exciting.
